Privacy policy
This notice describes the current Dopamigo macOS desktop prototype and its optional Chrome companion. Dopamigo is developed by Bhargav Joshi. Contact bhargavjoshie@gmail.com for support and privacy questions.
Your workspace is stored on your Mac. Features powered by Google send the specific information described below to Google. Connecting Google is optional.
Information you put in your workspace
Dopamigo stores your task titles, assignment briefs, deadlines, plans, notes, resource links, next actions, session checkpoints and preferences locally. PDF, text and Markdown briefs are read and converted to text on your Mac. Importing a brief alone does not send it to an AI service.
When you request a Gemini plan, Dopamigo sends the task title, brief, deadline and any clarification you provide to Google's Gemini API. Sample planning does not make that planning request. Your separate workspace notes are not included in these requests.
Google account and Calendar access
Google handles sign-in and consent in your browser. Dopamigo receives your account identifier, email address and access credentials; it does not receive your Google password.
With your permission, Dopamigo reads your accessible calendar list and upcoming events to find academic deadlines. It processes calendar names, event identifiers, titles, descriptions, dates, status and event links. It also checks previously imported events for changed deadlines or cancellations.
Calendar names, event titles, descriptions of up to 3,000 characters and event start dates are sent to Google's Gemini API for assignment classification. This can include events that are subsequently classified as unrelated to assignments. Imported assignment details and classification results are saved locally. Dopamigo does not create, change or delete Google Calendar events.
Google Drive access
Dopamigo requests read-only Drive metadata access to find an Assignments folder and match files with imported assignments. It processes folder and file identifiers, names, file types, parent-folder relationships and modification times. Selected folder details and matched document links are saved in your local workspace.
Google grants this metadata permission across the account. Dopamigo discovers folders and limits document matching to the selected folder and its subfolders. File names and folder context are matched locally. This integration does not download Drive document contents or create, edit or delete Google files. If you separately import a local copy as a brief, the workspace and planning practices above apply.
Browser companion and spoken reminders
If you pair the Chrome companion and enable monitoring, it reads the active tab's URL during focus sessions to identify its hostname and whether it matches a saved work resource. Incognito tabs are excluded. It sends tab identifiers, the hostname and a work-relevance signal to Dopamigo over a connection on your own computer. A work-tab URL is kept temporarily in the extension so it can restore the correct tab.
For a generated reminder, Dopamigo sends the hostname, task title, current step, exact next action, reminder style and up to three recent generated reminders to Gemini. It sends the resulting reminder text to Google's speech generation service when voice is enabled. Calendar-derived task details can therefore be included in these features.
The companion does not read page contents, messages, searches or comments. Full browsing URLs and workspace notes are not sent for reminder writing. Browser observations, recent reminders and audio caches are held in memory rather than saved as browsing history. Muting voice still allows text reminders; disable monitoring or pause the session to stop browser-triggered reminders.
Storage, sharing and AI providers
The current desktop app does not upload your workspace to a Dopamigo-operated server and does not include advertising or analytics SDKs. Dopamigo does not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or run a model-training pipeline. Google API access is used for the assignment, planning and reminder features described here.
Google receives the requests described in this notice and associated connection information needed to provide its APIs. Google's handling of Gemini requests depends on the applicable service terms and account configuration. Paid-service terms state that prompts and responses are not used to improve Google's products, while limited safety-related retention may apply. Other configurations can have different data-use terms. See the Gemini API terms and Google privacy policy.
Google sign-in credentials are encrypted on your Mac using operating-system-backed secure storage. Workspace files and their local recovery backup are not encrypted by Dopamigo; their protection also depends on your Mac's user account and device security. Local API configuration is stored separately. No security method can guarantee absolute protection.
Your controls, retention and deletion
- Pause automatic Google sync or disconnect in Settings. Disconnecting removes locally stored Google account credentials and attempts to revoke the authorization. Existing tasks, imported assignment details, notes and selected-folder settings are retained so your work is not lost.
- You can also revoke Dopamigo's access through your Google account connections.
- Your local workspace has no automatic expiry. To remove all locally retained app data, first disconnect Google, then quit Dopamigo and remove the app data folder whose path is shown in Settings, including its recovery backup. This permanently removes saved work and local settings. Copies you placed elsewhere or retained in system backups are separate.
- Remove the Chrome extension to remove its locally stored pairing configuration. Quit the app and browser to clear their in-memory session data.
Removing local data or disconnecting does not delete requests already processed by Google; Google's retention terms apply to those requests. The developer cannot remotely erase files on your Mac. If you contact support, include only the information you want to share; support email is handled by the email service and may be retained to respond to your request.
Website visits and changes
These informational pages do not ask for your Google credentials or access your Calendar or Drive. The pages contain no application analytics, advertising scripts or forms. The hosting provider may process technical requests and use its own access or security mechanisms to serve the site.
This notice will be updated if Dopamigo's data practices change. The date above identifies this version. For questions or requests concerning data you have shared with the developer, email bhargavjoshie@gmail.com.
